What the work covered
What we inherited
AuraSupps sells three supplements — an instant tea, a calm formula and sleep gummies. The store was already a heavily customized Dawn theme and was running live.
The job was not a redesign. It was maintenance that had become impossible to do.
What was broken
The entire homepage lived in a single 982-line file. That meant the owner could not swap two blocks, turn one off or change an image without touching code. For a store that changes offers every week, that is a brake.
Second, every product page promised 2+1 and 3+2, but the automatic discounts were set up per product and one pair was missing. The page showed one price, the cart calculated another. On top of that, the homepage prices were typed in as text and had fallen behind the real ones.
Approach
How we did it
The monolith was split into nine sections that can be reordered and turned off individually. The look stayed the same byte for byte — the goal was manageability, not a new design.
- A single grain overlay across the whole site is rendered once instead of nine times
- The script was built to run again safely, because the editor reloads one section at a time
- The four product pages run on one set of sections, not on four copies
- Each product page's palette is switched with one class on the page — zero color settings scattered across sections
- The automatic discounts were audited and the missing pair was created
- Stacking rules were set: free shipping combines with a bundle, but not with 2+1
The old monolithic section was left in the theme. If something goes wrong, rolling back is one click, not a restore from backup.
