The starting point

MaXilin is a food supplement with live lactic acid bacteria. One 2 g sachet contains three strains and 20 billion CFU in total, and each box holds 50 sachets. It is made by MAX NRG LLP in Almaty, and orders for Europe ship from a warehouse in Slovakia.

The task was a standalone store with Bulgarian as the primary language, selling in Bulgaria and the European Union. We had the client's brief, an English-language information site for the product, and the documents behind the formula: a publication from 2000, a Eurasian patent, a lab report on heavy metals and manufacturing certificates.

What needed solving

There is one product, but many markets. Orders for Europe ship from a warehouse in Slovakia, orders for Bulgaria from Bulgaria, and every country has its own shipping rate, its own language and sometimes its own currency. The store had to show the right price in the right language without the buyer having to choose twice.

The formula had to read clearly: three strains and 20 billion CFU, vitamins, minerals and prebiotic fiber — each in grams and as a percentage of the reference intake, not as a list of words.

The documents needed care too. Each one covers something specific: the 2000 publication is a lab study on bacterial isolates, not a clinical trial in humans, and the patent describes a manufacturing method. They had to sit on the page together with their scope.

The approach

How we did it

The work rested on two things: exactly what is in the sachet, and exactly what each document shows.

  • A full composition table for a 2 g sachet in four groups, with the % of the reference intake next to every vitamin and mineral
  • The publication and the patent are described with their scope — what was studied and on what — with links to PubMed and Google Patents
  • A science page in five numbered steps, from the strain to batch testing, with five certificates of analysis for specific batches
  • Grigorov (1905) and Mechnikov (1908) appear as heritage, with a line stating that the prize was for cellular immunity and proves nothing about a product today
  • One of the questions in the “FAQ” section distinguishes the supplement from a medicinal product with a similar name
  • 19 languages and 5 currencies in one switcher in the footer
  • Shipping rates to 19 countries, to an address, and in six of them to a parcel locker as well

The reviews section was left empty until real reviews come in. In their place it says “No reviews collected yet” instead of being pre-filled.
