Niche fragrances

Bulgarian headings were rendering in the wrong font. The cause was the theme itself.

A full rebuild on Dawn, section by section, so the owner can manage everything on their own.

What we inherited

Pheromante sells extrait de parfum in Bulgaria — a category where the buyer pays up front and expects the storefront to justify the price. The store was running on a purchased theme, and before that on another one. Every change meant fighting someone else's code.

The brand was just moving away from its pheromone positioning — the angle its very name comes from. The site had to talk about scent, composition and mood without leaning on the old promise.

What was broken

The most expensive problem wasn't visible at first glance. The theme's global heading font was Poppins, and Poppins has no Cyrillic. Every Bulgarian heading silently fell back to the device's system font, and mixed Bulgarian-English headings came out in two different fonts on the same line.

On top of that, the homepage had no H1 heading at all, and one product page made three different claims about concentration and maturation time. Leftovers from automatic translation kept serving old English text long after the Bulgarian had been replaced.

The approach

How we did it

Only the skeleton of Dawn remains. Each section is self-contained: it carries its own styles, locked to its own ID, and inherits nothing from the theme's global color scheme. That way, one section can't break another.

  • Every text and every image is an editor setting — the owner changes whatever they want without having to contact us
  • The accent colors on each product page come from a metafield on the product itself
  • Fonts are called by name in each section, so they don't depend on the global setting
  • A store locator page built from blocks — a new location is added from the editor, with no code
  • A full front-end audit with 67 logged findings, resolved one by one

The brand no longer sells only online. So we also added the store locator page — a buyer who wants to smell a fragrance before buying doesn't have to leave the site to find where.
